Limoges Blue Enameled Porcelain Pocket With Japanese Fish Design
Rare, superb Limoges porcelain pocket scoop with white enamel on deep kiln blue, mid-twentieth century work, circa 1940-1960. Stylized catfish design accompanied by a starfish and seaweed, treated in white resist on a cobalt ground in a very graphic Japanese spirit.
The quality of the design and the technique could attribute it to Marcel Chaufriasse, with the originality that it is an unusual subject for the artist. Free-form and slightly hollow. Unsigned.
Length 20cm, width 13cm, height 3.5cm. Very good overall condition, no cracks or chips, to note numerous but slight wear scratches on the bottom, more or less discreet depending on lighting. Approx. 300gr.
