Large Seascape With Cliffs, Oil On Framed Panel, By Paul Ruben (1882-1955)

A very beautiful painting, a seascape of cliffs, oil on antique wood, signed Ruben lower left - Paul RUBEN (1882-1955) - framed in a very attractive, elegant frame with wide, light-colored, unfinished wood moldings. Magnificent colors enhanced with turquoise, a very luminous painting. The panel alone measures 46 x 33 cm in landscape format; with the frame, it measures 55 x 43 cm overall, 4 cm thick. In very good overall condition, however, the painting shows some fine oil craquelure across the entire surface, likely due to the wood grain. There are a few small stains, particularly in the upper left corner, and the wood is visible in some areas, indicating wear or originality. There is a very discreet small hole in the upper center, probably from a previous hanging. The frame is very clean, with slight wood grain in the corners and a large hanging hook on the back. A harmonious piece overall. This may be one of the artist's early works, as the "P" in the signature is not present, perhaps dating from the 1920s or 1930s. Approximately 1.500-2kg.
