Carved Mother-of-pearl Votive Plaque,
Magnificent votive plate, religious/devotional object, in handcrafted carved and openwork mother-of-pearl from Bethlehem, representing the Last Supper, relatively recent 1960s-1990s. Rounded form, finely openwork decoration on 2 planes, the background, the table in light relief and the apostles treated in engraving and bas-relief. Between the 2 planes, a large piece of heavy mother-of-pearl on the background ensures good stability. The back features a hinged folding foot, a well-designed piece that can be displayed as a desk or devotional cabinet. Decorative set, typical of religious souvenirs from the Holy Land, but larger and more detailed than current production, very nicely rendered under light.
16.5cm wide, 14.3cm high, 3cm thick without foot. Very nice overall condition, no chips or missing parts, functional foot, well-preserved surface. Approx. 500g.
