James Henry Steward was an optical and scientific instrument manufacturing company founded in London in 1852.
Renowned for the quality of its instruments, it became the official supplier to the British government and various national artillery and shooting associations.
The address 406 Strand remained the company’s headquarters for over a century (1856–1971).
The brass microscope is signed “J.H. Steward 406 Strand London.”
It comes with two eyepieces, two objectives, several accessories, and some slides.
