The telescope is signed "John Gray n.4 East Smithfield London", "Improved Day or night"
"Day or night" telescopes were commonly used on ships and could be used in the dark because they had relatively large objectives to collect the maximum amount of light in low visibility conditions
The Telescope is made of a brass tube and mahogany wood and can be extended.
The telescope measures 51 cm closed and 90 cm extended, diameter 6.5 cm.
The lenses are original and in good condition.
