Bronze Watch-holder In The 18th Century Style, 19th Century
Elegant cast and patinated bronze watch holder, made in the 19th century in a style strongly inspired by the 18th century.
The richly openwork composition is structured around a rocaille frame animated with scrolls, foliage and naturalistic motifs. Two putti enliven the scene, accompanied by a perched rooster and stylised vegetal elements, giving the piece a lively and decorative character. The watch dial fits into the finely worked circular opening at the centre.
Beautiful aged patina, with subtle tonal variations revealing warmer highlights that enhance the depth of the ornament.
Both decorative and functional, this watch holder is a distinctive example of 19th century historicist taste.
