A superb 18th-century Rouen faience wall pocket, decorated with the iconic cornucopia motif, a symbol of abundance and prosperity, characteristic of the Rouen workshops.
The vibrant and well-balanced palette—combining blues, yellows, greens and reds—unfolds through scrolling foliage, stylized flowers and small insects, in a manner typical of high-quality Rouen production. The shaped outline and the pierced façade, designed to hold individual flower stems, highlight both the functional ingenuity and the decorative refinement of the piece.
The reverse is simply treated, with a lightly crackled glaze and an unglazed footrim, consistent with 18th-century manufacture.
Condition: good overall condition. Minor fritting and edge wear, consistent with age and contributing to the authenticity of the piece.
