19th Century Copper Ferrat
A 19th-century copper ferrat, made from shaped copper sheets assembled with rivets and brazed joints.
This attractive utilitarian piece has retained all of its authenticity. Decades of use have given it its gently irregular form and warm patina, which now make up much of its appeal. The original riveted handles remain in place, as does the engraved number 4, most likely an old inventory or identification mark.
No longer limited to its original purpose, this ferrat would make an elegant planter or cache-pot for a large plant, while also serving as a decorative object in both country homes and contemporary interiors.
Overall in good antique condition, with age-related wear consistent with its long working life.
Dimensions:
- Height: 23 cm (9.1 in)
- Diameter: 32 cm (12.6 in)
- Overall width (handle to handle): 36 cm (14.2 in)
The simplest everyday objects are often the most evocative. This ferrat quietly tells its story through the marks left by time and use, while retaining both its functionality and understated elegance. An honest and authentic piece whose generous proportions make it a wonderful decorative accent today.
