Exceptional vase from the Middle East, in chased brass.

Height: 73 cm - 29"
Sumptuous 19th-century epigraphic and calligraphic decorations.
Large, imposing baluster-shaped vase in patinated brass.
Very rich sculpted and calligraphic decorations in high-quality thuluth.
There are numerous friezes, decorated with latticework, cartouches, arabesques.

The finish on this piece is delicate, the deep, incisive engravings demonstrate the maker's dexterity.
The golden, antique patina sublimates the object.

These marvelous coppers and brasses, sometimes tin-plated, were under the Ottoman, Safavid, Kadjar and Mughal dynasties an eminent alternative to silver and enjoyed the same status.
Pure copper is the origin of the alloys that are bronze and brass.
It has been shaped by repoussé in all eras, but has often been gilded, enamelled, covered or inlaid with other materials like our model.
It was used to make everyday objects in the Eastern world, but also throughout Europe.
Boiler-making encompassed this type of production, and certain countries, such as those of the Muslim East, became masters in the field.
