The hômongi is a silk kimono characterized by its patterns concentrated around the hem, sleeve, and sometimes the upper body, which run over the seams without interruption (otherwise, the kimono is of the tsukesage type).
Hômongi means "visiting garment";
it is less formal than the tomesode but more so than the komon or tsukesage.
It may occasionally be adorned with one or three crests called "Mon."
Married or single women wear it for receptions, visits, going to restaurants, or attending tea ceremonies.
