Bidjar hand-knotted wool rug from the Iranian highlands.

Measures 203 cm wide by 302 cm long.
Knotted around 1980 in very good condition,
limit perfect.
The shaving on these wool rugs is so precise and clean that the material resembles silk.
This gives the wool a beautiful sheen.
Not far from Sanandaj, the region of finely knotted Senneh carpets, lies the small town of Bijar which, together with its surrounding villages, produces what are undoubtedly the heaviest and strongest carpets in Persia.

Our model has a classic medallion decoration also present on Senneh, the field features all in fresh, luminous shades a so-called "herati" motif.
A discreet but very elaborate motif.
The fine borders on the lengths are adorned with finely knotted palmettes.
