Napoleon III Covered Jam Pot In Gilt Bronze And Cobalt Blue Glass, 19th Century
A beautiful and highly decorative display piece, typical of the Napoleon III taste.
Elegant covered jam pot from the Napoleon III period, 19th century.
This refined French work is crafted in finely chased gilt bronze, resting on a square base with small ball feet. The scrolling side handles are richly decorated with foliage and medallions.
The body features a removable cobalt blue glass liner, highlighted by applied gilt bronze decoration depicting a neoclassical scene of a seated woman in an interior, rendered with fine detail and relief.
The lid is original, topped with a finely cast seed-shaped finial. The cobalt blue glass liner is also original.
A highly decorative piece, characteristic of Second Empire production, combining elegance and refinement.
Condition: very good overall condition. Gilding well preserved. Glass intact.
