Victorian Bonbonnière, Attributed To George T. & Co., Cobalt Glass And Silver-plated Metal, 19th Century

An elegant antique oval bonbonnière in thick pressed cobalt glass, attributed to George T. & Co., England, late 19th century. The cobalt glass body has a molded base in the shape of a large radiating star. The silver-plated metal lid is richly stamped with radiating motifs and chased friezes, and finished with an elegant central knob. The total height is approximately 9.5 cm to the top of the lid, and approximately 5.7 cm without the lid. The body alone is 15 cm long and 10 cm wide; the lid is slightly larger. It is in very good used condition, although there are two old scratches on one side of the glass, one large and one smaller, both relatively discreet and possibly manufacturing flaws. There are also a few small, discreet chips on the rim and under the base, barely visible when displayed. The metal of the lid shows slight wear and some stains, but the overall appearance is harmonious. It weighs approximately 650-700 grams.
