Marc Le Febvre: Oval Solid Silver Platter, 18th Century, Tournai, 1761, Coat Of Arms
Extremely rare Belgian solid silver oval platter with a rimmed border. The rim is engraved with an alliance coat of arms framed by rampant lions, all surmounted by a crown. Hallmarks for Tournai 1761 and the maker's mark of silversmith Marc Le Febvre (hallmark with the initials "MLF" and two crossed palm fronds). A very high-quality platter with beautiful and remarkably hallmarked coat of arms, a lovely patina, and minor scratches from use. For the discerning collector... Please note that a second oval platter bearing the same coat of arms (Tournai 1777) is for sale simultaneously (see other listing). Disregard reflections in the photos. Dimensions: 23.2 x 33 cm. Weight: 818.2 grams
