Sashimono standard of the Mimura clan, carved, lacquered, and gilded wood (minor wear), mounted on a long wooden pole, the upper quarter of which is lacquered black and adorned with two rings and a metal tube. Minor losses to the lacquer. Dimensions: 216 x 26 x 26 cm. Sold with the base. Notes: Large sashimono standards dominated the battlefield as visual and symbolic landmarks. Taller and more imposing than individual banners, they signaled the presence of a leader, the position of a unit, or the authority of a clan.
