Kazakh Rug - Caucasus. Circa 1900. 190 X 104 Cm
Superb Kazakh patterned rug originating from the Caucasus. Woven and knotted wool on wool using traditional methods. Fine and delicate knotted stitch. The piece is supple. Classic composition with three large medallions on a central field of saturated indigo blue. Very beautiful depth; the exclusively plant-based hues stand out and contrast with ecru or ivory sections. The contrasts are striking; everything is in its place in an elegant and subtle harmony. The outer borders of midnight blue crochet on a madder red background are superb. In addition to this entire palette, one appreciates the presence of a magnificent bottle green on the central medallion and the inner border. Circa 1900. Very good condition. Dimensions: 190 x 104 cm. Laurent Beauty of Kilims
