Object description :

"Tabriz Rug, 140 X 210 Cm, Kajar Dynasty, Hand-knotted In Kork Wool In Iran At The Beginning Of The 20th Century"
Antique Tabriz rug, hand-knotted in kork wool at the very beginning of the 20th century.
It measures 140 cm wide by 210 cm long with 360,000 knots per m2.

The central motif with triple rosettes draws a large, stylized flower in bloom accompanied by eight pendants scattered around it. Looking closely at the design, we appreciate the multitude of details and its delicacy.
This motif is surrounded by numerous other flowers covering the field mixed with interlacing like sinuous branches.
The wide border, composed of varied motifs, palmettes and alternating ramages, is inspired by old models from Herat.
This entire piece is in good condition, the velvet clean, the selvedges slightly worn as well as the short fringes.
The general condition is very good.
We do not observe any reduction in pile, the kork wool used is of first quality because of its great finesse in its preparation.

The colors are fresh, soft and delicate, certainly they have lost their vigor but without loss of color and not insolated. The deep shades, red and blue blend perfectly with the cream supporting many other colors, a hint of orange, almond green, very pale blue, curry.........
Note the quality of the border and its two braids which accompany it.
Kork wool is the softest and silkiest wool taken exclusively at the first shearing of the lambs, mainly under the neck and the belly. A beautiful old carpet, of the most beautiful effect, embellished with the patina that one seeks on this type of antique.
This piece was knotted under the Qajar dynasty which ended in 1925. Tabriz (Azerbaijani: Təbriz/ تبریز, formerly Tauris), is the capital of the province of East Azerbaijan, in the northwest of Iran (Iranian Azerbaijan).
Tabriz is located on the course of the Talkheh River (also called Aji-Chāi), near Lake Urmia, close to the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
It is the gateway to Persia from north to west.
The Tabriz have an extreme importance in the quality of Persian carpets and a very great international reputation.
They are among the most prized carpets in the world, their work is always very fine and durable over time.
# Carpet knotted under the Kadjar dynasty or the Kadjars (Qājār, Qadjar, Qajar, Persian: قاجار)
Turkmen dynasty which reigns over Iran from 1786 to 1925.
