Royal Isfahan Carpet – Signed, Iran, Circa 1965/70

This Isfahan Royal carpet, signed on its border, is one of the first works woven before the imperial coronation of the Shah of Iran, it is distinguished by its remarkable quality, with a silky lambswool pile and silk finishes. The weaving density reaches approximately 10,000 knots per dm², giving the carpet exceptional finesse and suppleness. The prayer-shaped design features an ivory field decorated with a finely drawn mirhab with a diamond-shaped oil lamp, and a rare motif of earthly paradise where trees of life, stylized animals and birds surround a crowned palmette. The triple beige border, decorated with flower buds and multi-colored foliage, underlines the balance and harmony of this rare work, which reflects all the magnificence of Persian art of this period.
