Object description :

"Kabul Wedding Rug, 119 Cm X 162 Cm, Silk On Silk Hand Knotted Circa 1950 In Afghanistan"
Little known and rare, is this type of carpet specific to women and the province of Kabul.
They are knotted in silk on silk with the addition of wool by Afghan women for the dowry in view of marriage.
Sublime painting and beautiful geometry, the details (see photos) are of great finesse and the colors delicate.
The density of knots is approximately 640,000 per m2 makes them extremely solid carpets.
Our model dates from the 50s and has not lost its splendor.
Finely knotted, our model has a large medallion justaposé with a red background, surrounded by tiles laid like paving stones.
They each have many stylized flowers in their midst, carefully arranged and with great regularity.
What could be better than flowers for a wedding. The finishes are kilim style at both ends and in good condition.
The edges are very good and the velvet is short and dense in tradition.
From the province of Kabul, Afghanistan, circa 1950.
This carpet has the quality of a painting, so much detail is significant.
A prominent place on a wall would suit it perfectly, but its great robustness due to tight knotting also gives it the possibility of being on the floor.
