Devotional Display Case (work Of Nuns), Virgin And Child In Wax, Crowned, Tyrol 18th Century

Baroque devotional display case with Virgin and Child (wax). The architecturally designed case is made of carved and gilded wood, with a flowing cornice adorned with acanthus motifs and glazed sides. Inside, on a gilded base, is a Virgin and Child sculpted in hand-modeled wax (boss work), dressed in rich fabrics with applied silver braid and lace, and wearing gilded copper crowns. A typical example of monastic work (Klosterarbeit) in Alpine Baroque art, combining wax figures, precious textiles, and a gilded case, intended for private devotion.
