Silver Sugar Tongs, Vieillard Hallmark (1819–1838), Restoration Period
Solid silver sugar tongs. Restoration-period pattern.
Flat, pierced (openwork) arms decorated with leafy scrolls, volutes, and stylized florets. The bow, edged with fillets, features a rectangular cartouche engraved with the “TR” monogram. Finished with smooth, oval-shaped spoon bowls.
Hallmarks:
• Standard mark (charge & discharge): Vieillard standard mark (Paris 1st standard, 950‰), in use from 16 August 1819 to 9 May 1838.
• Assay/guarantee: Ceres head mark (Paris, large guarantee).
• Silversmith: Diamond-shaped maker’s mark with the initials “ACC”.
Wear consistent with age. Please note: small losses and minor damage to the pierced (openwork) areas, not affecting the overall integrity of the piece. A restoration trace (soldering) is visible on the inside of the bow.
