Oval ivory diptych dial incorporating a nocturlabe, France, dated 1593. Small oval pocket diptych dial, unsigned but French, and dated 1593. The dial features a small, ungraduated brass nocturlabe on its upper face. Inside, there is a wire-axis dial and a floating compass, hand-painted in red, blue, and gold. On its lower face, there is a set of four decorative circles. The dial measures 48 x 39 x 16 mm. Provenance: - E.
