Moraillon Box, 17th Century

Travel box with wooden hasp covered in leather decorated with geometric patterns, small irons and plant decoration, France, 17th century. The box measures 18.7cm wide, 12cm deep and 9cm high. Pretty hasp and plate lock decorated with two balusters. The interior, entirely original, is covered with vintage handmade paper and the inside of the lid with two silk threads forming a cross to keep letters and papers. On the back, some accidents, missing leather and oxidation. The (original?) key operates the lock mechanism perfectly.
