"Rectangular Protractor By Watkins, Circa 1760"
Rectangular brass protractor signed "F. Watkins London". The protractor measures 15.7cmx4.8cm. On one side are engraved a double scale from 0 to 180 degrees and a conversion scale, and on the other side are engraved 13 scales including 6 reduction scales and 6 mathematical lines. Francis Watkins was active in London between 1747 and 1786. The protractor can be dated to the years 1750-1770. Good general condition despite some soiling and marks.
