"Rope Dancer, Mario Negri (1916 - 1987), Bronze Sculpture, 1954"
Magnificent bronze sculpture by renowned Italian sculptor Mario Negri (1916-1987), active in the mid-20th century. Sold at his first solo exhibition in Canada, at the Dominion Gallery in Montreal. This striking sculpture, entitled "Tightrope Dancer," dates from 1954. A figure sculpted with exceptional mastery, rivaling the works of Negri's contemporaries such as Giacometti. Although missing an arm, it retains remarkable expressiveness. A true bronze masterpiece, signed by a highly talented artist. The catalogue from the Dominion Gallery exhibition where this work was acquired is included. From a Canadian private collection.
