Peacock, Bronze, India, 18th Century

This small peacock, the mount of the god Skanda, was likely a stopper for a bottle or oil lamp. Its fleshy, graphic design and dark bronze alloy date it to the 18th century. It is mounted on an Art Deco marble base.
