Auvergne Woman With Umbrella – Sculpture (50 X 70) By Cavin (mont-dore)
A peasant woman shields herself from the wind and rain with her umbrella. A schematic, sculptural composition that gives the scene its full expressive power. Bears the signature "Cavin"; dates from the 1950s–1970s; made of fruitwood; shows minor signs of wear; base has been re-varnished. The artist was a craftsman formerly active in Le Mont-Dore (Puy-de-Dôme); a shop in Aurillac sold his creations around 1970.
