Kuba Ikula Dagger - Colonial Period

Traditional knife with a leaf-shaped blade and a pronounced central ridge—the handle is inlaid with geometric patterns (lead) and ends in a round pommel.

These are ceremonial knives.
Origin: King Shyaam aMbul aNgoong is said to have introduced the ikul in the seventeenth century following a period of war. The king is said to have then banned the saber and replaced it with the ikul, a symbol of peace.
