Very beautiful old Kachina doll (Katsina) Hopi from Arizona in light wood and painted height 49cm plus support delivered with the two articulated arms remains of feathers at the top of the skull In the Hopi comogony, the Kachina personifies a supernatural being, serving as an intermediary between humans and the world beyond. Each represents a dancer embodying a specific spirit, intervening in ceremonies intended to bring down the rain. Their function is also didactic. Made by men, the dolls are given to women and children, in order to be exhibited and to participate, through games, in the education of the youngest.
