"Vosges Wooden Box - Folk Art - 19th Century"
Wooden box originating from the High Vosges Mountains - Folk art - 19th century. Rectangular box/casket, possibly for a wedding, lacemaker, or "catch-all," made of wood carved with geometric shapes and flowers. Rustic hinges made of wire. Closes with two hooks and rings. Made of beech wood. Good condition. Some woodworm holes (treated wood). Width 42.5 cm, depth 27 cm, height 18.5 cm. Other pieces of this type are available in my gallery.
