**************

Large and rare rectangular pewter platter, hammer-forged, with chamfered corners and a rim decorated with a gadrooned molding applied by soldering. The forging marks are visible on the reverse, as well as tool marks at the fold between the rim and the butt.
The rim is finely engraved with an alliance coat of arms featuring a plumed helmet:
"Sinister: Argent, a chevron gules between two mullets or, and in base a lamb passant of the same.
Dexter: Azure, three helmets argent arranged 2 and 1."

Hallmark of Jean LANTI: crowned hammer / I. LANTI.
Hallmark used by Joseph LANTI: FIN in a rectangular cartouche (with an inverted N).
Dimensions: 29.5 x 47 cm.
RODEZ, Late 18th century.

Rare serving platter, in very good condition and of fine quality in both finish and material; however, some local consolidation at the junction of the rim and the bulge is noted.
Colored arrows on some photographs indicate certain details mentioned in the description above.
