Superb double camel saddlebag from Persia, attributed to the nomadic Bathiyari people. Importantly, it is not a patchwork, or at least not pieces sewn together. The object is woven, embroidered, and knotted on a single warp. This type of piece is quite rare, and this one is in a near-miraculous state of preservation. The plant-based dyes are in perfect harmony. The indigo blues are exquisite. It has a beautiful patina. The whole is captivating for an everyday object that was once used for transporting goods.
