Maffrash Shasaven. Persia. Circa 1880. 164 X 103 Cm

Beautiful kilim made from 2 panels of Maffrash Shahsaven sewn together.
Origin: Persia.

Originally, Maffrash were the largest carrying bags used by the nomadic populations of Persia and the Caucasus.
Accessorily, they were used as baby carriages once the camp was set up.

Woven wool on wool.
The weaving is a pure marvel, everything is there, extreme finesse, precision and regularity.
The piece is light and supple.

Extremely fine and refined workmanship.
The shades are very soft, they are natural. The beautiful depth of field lets a miriad of stars sparkle.

Late 19th century.
Perfect condition.

Dim: 164 x 103 cm
