A chubby young cherub, rendered with exquisitely soft modeling, leans carefree against the clock's case, in a pose that is both tender and lively. His raised, almost suspended gesture seems to reach out to caress or hold the two doves perched atop the clock, timeless symbols of innocence, peace, and love.
The decoration, rich without being excessive, plays on the harmony of volumes: supple drapery envelops the circular base of the domed white enamel dial, protected by a domed glass, while the sculpted cherub provides a sensual and expressive counterpoint to the horological rigor. The finely detailed face exudes a delicate emotion, imbued with candor and serenity.
Rectangular base in white Carrara marble, highlighted by a beaded frieze in gilt bronze and small turned feet.
Original mechanism, unaltered. Strikes on the hour and half-hour on an antique bell.
