Clock In Gilded Bronze Napoléon III
Decorative Napoleon III period clock of very fine quality. Mechanism
stamped Kauffer in Nancy. The gilt bronze construction is finely
ornamented on three sides with numerous scroll friezes, laurel leaf
outlines, and fluting adorned with asparagus on the front, as well as a
large frieze decorated with cherubs carried by a cloud. The top is
adorned with an antique-style flower vase from which long foliage
cascades and a swirl of ivy leaves. The large, domed white enamel dial
features finely crafted hands, protected by domed glass.
Original, unmodified mechanism. The hour and half-hour strike is performed on an antique bell.
