The gilt-bronze structure features a cage-like design with glass on all four sides, framed by delicate moldings that lend a light and airy feel, allowing the exposed mechanism and sunburst pendulum to be admired. The side panels are richly decorated with finely chiseled floral and fruit motifs, which converge at the front with a pleated and knotted ribbon that highlights the domed white enamel dial. The dial is fitted with finely crafted gilt hands, protected by a domed glass cover.
The upper section is adorned with an ovoid white marble vase, set on a pedestal and entirely encircled by gilt-bronze laurel wreaths, an emblematic motif of the Louis XVI repertoire.
The clock rests on a massive Carrara marble base, decorated on three sides with an openwork frieze of foliate scrolls and flowers, lending depth and refinement to the whole.
Original mechanism, striking the hours and half-hours on an antique bell;
A high-quality decorative and horological piece, combining technical virtuosity, neoclassical elegance, and the prestige of the great Parisian bronze casters and clockmakers.
