Sèvres: 18th-century Gallant Scene - The Flute Lesson, Biscuit Porcelain Group - Signed
Artist: Manufacture De Sèvres
A biscuit porcelain group, a charming Louis XV-style gallant scene depicting a young peasant teaching a shepherdess to play the flute. The scene takes place in a rocky landscape with a barking dog. Made by the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, the sculpture is dated (1902) and signed. Ideal for complementing an 18th-century décor, these decorative objects are typical of this period and can be placed on a chest of drawers or mantelpiece alongside a clock, or on a festive table for a refined dinner. This piece is ornate from all angles, designed to be viewed from every side, for example, as a centerpiece on a table or with its back to a mirror. It is a large-format piece. A great many biscuit porcelain groups were produced throughout the 19th century, copying Sèvres. Our group is an authentic piece from the prestigious Manufacture de Sèvres. A very fine representation conforming to the Sèvres standards of perfection, with numerous meticulous details: facial expressions, details of the clothing, and impressive foliage and rose petals, each one hand-crafted. In very good condition with minor imperfections (the flute and one finger and a toe are missing from the lady's foot). The piece remains highly decorative, displaying the finesse and quality characteristic of Sèvres. Width: 25cm Height: 22cm
