Meissen Porcelain Figural Group The Dentist, After Kaendler
A Meissen figural group, with date code for 1984, after J.J. Kändler’s original model, circa 1740, of a quack doctor/dentist, holding up an improbably-sized tooth, his patient/victim sat at a table, tentatively exploring his mouth which holding a bloody shaving bowl, a harlequin sat across from him holding various pots in his hat, a monkey sat on the table holding another large tooth and surrounded with various pots and potions, of which there are more on the floor, including a doctor’s chest.
Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords, impressed “160” followed by “E” date code for 1984, Decorator’s mark “8.” in red, impressed model number “73012”.
Condition: Excellent. No damage, wear, or restoration.
