After the original in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, this painting has also been attributed to Jan van Bijlert. This copy was most likely painted in the late 18th or early 19th century.
Condition: Generally good for age. Clean and ready to hang. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some areas of overpainting, mainly limited to the background at upper right and a patch in the hood of her red habit. There is also a very small area at the lower left edge of the painting. Light craquelure throughout. Some wear to the paint layer through past cleaning. There is a raised 6cm (2.5in) line in the varnish layer, probably a run, vertically down her face at the corner of her left eye.
