Clock Louis XVI Style Napoleon III Era
A finely chased and gilded bronze architectural clock, characteristic
of the Louis XVI style, dating from the Napoleon III period around
1880. The elegantly curved structure features side panels of white
marble adorned with gilt bronze vegetal and allegorical trophies,
framed by delicate chased borders.
The front displays a rich decoration of finely sculpted garlands, scrolls, and symbolic attributes. The domed white enamel dial is embellished with polychrome floral garlands and features finely openwork gilt bronze hands.
The whole is surmounted by a covered white marble vase with gilt bronze foliate handles, topped by a stylized bouquet.
The base, crafted from carefully polished Carrara white marble, is octagonal in shape. Each face is decorated with rich applied gilt bronze foliate scrolls, alternating with finely chased rosettes and floral motifs.
Original mechanism, unmodified. Strikes the hours and half-hours on an old bell.
