Model 1837 Naval Pistol
Model 1837 naval pistol of the first type, meaning without a grip strap (a later modification to reinforce it) and without sights. Unmodified 1837 naval pistols are quite difficult to find, as many broke in combat due to their inherent fragility.
The lock plate is marked "Mre Rle de Tulle" for Manufacture Royale de Tulle (Royal Manufactory of Tulle) and stamped with the letter "L" in an oval, the mark of Martin Luzier, controller in Tulle from 1820 to 1839.
It has a smoothbore barrel without sights. The breech tang is marked "Mle 1837". The right side of the breech is dated 1839 and stamped with Luzier's mark, while the left side is stamped "L.C.". The right side of the barrel is stamped with a "C" in an oval, and the left side with a "P" and serial number.
It has a stirrup ramrod and a nipple.
