Solid Silver, Vermeil And White Enamel Table Bell. England, London, Early 20th Century.
Magnificent small English silver-gilt table bell.
It rests on three ball feet and is shaped like a hemisphere with a molded base.
A white enamel band adorns the body of the bell.
The button is probably made of slightly transparent, iridescent opaline glass, echoing the enamel band.
The bell is hallmarked:
Lion passant for English sterling silver
Leopard's head for the City of London
Date letter R (inside) for the year 1912-1913
Maker's mark to be identified: WH
Another hallmark to be identified, perhaps that of the retailer?
A superb little bell, very elegant with its full silver-gilt finish highlighted with white enamel.
4.9 cm in diameter
2.8 cm high
55 grams gross
Very good condition. Minor oxidation and wear consistent with age. The wiring will need to be checked.
