Silver Sword Of A Senior Officer, 1st Empire
Silver sword hilt, hallmarked (1st standard 950/1000), 1809/1819.
Parisian manufacture by the goldsmith Jean Juste (received in 1807).
Finely chased hilt, openwork keyboard, in the center an imperial eagle (Certis) at the center of a laurel wreath surrounded by trophies of arms, ending in two lion heads.
The hilt chased with stylized palmettes, in the center a lion's head. Pommel in the shape of a crosier decorated with palmettes and a pair of wings on a sandblasted background; Quillon ending in a stylized flower.
Grip covered with mother-of-pearl inlay. Straight 79 cm blade with a triangular cross-section, engraved and blued and gilded for one-third of its length (slight oxidation).
Point in good condition. Black leather scabbard with two silver-plated metal mounts (chasm slightly deformed).
An old repair to the scabbard (see photo).
