Italian Maiolica Art Charger By Stefano Cannelli, Gubbio, 2003

Artist: Stefano Cannelli

Decorative Italian maiolica charger designed by Luigi Stefano Cannelli and hand-painted in the Rampini ceramic workshop, Gubbio. Executed in tin-glazed earthenware and dated 2003.

The composition depicts a classical seaside scene with a woman and child, painted in a manner inspired by early Renaissance art, particularly the circle of Sandro Botticelli. The treatment of form and drapery gives the piece a refined, timeless quality.

The rim is finished with stylised Greek lettering used as a decorative reference to ancient literature.

A poetic fragment by Sappho, in the Italian translation by Salvatore Quasimodo, appears on the reverse.

Luigi Stefano Cannelli is a recognized master whose works are highly valued by collectors. However, acquiring them is a rare opportunity. The artist creates his pieces with exceptional care and deliberation, making every work that appears on the open market a true event for connoisseurs.

This large-format charger functions as both a decorative object and a collectible piece of contemporary Italian ceramic art.
