Fine English porcelain cup and saucer produced during the Flight, Barr & Barr period at the Worcester Porcelain Manufactory. The distinctive sixteen-sided fluted form with concave scalloped walls is richly decorated in the Dragon in Compartments pattern, featuring dragon and kylin panels separated by ornamental reserves of precious objects. The surface is finished in vibrant famille-verte enamels with refined gilt accents.
Derived from early 18th-century Chinese prototypes, this design became one of Worcester’s most prestigious and enduring decorative patterns, particularly admired during the Regency period when the factory reached exceptional artistic standards.
The bases show the impressed crowned FBB mark and retain a collector’s label from The Flight Collection, assembled by Lord Howard Emerson Flight, descendant of the historic owners of the Worcester manufactory. Selected pieces from this important collection have been offered at Bonhams and Toovey’s.
