Pair Of Royal Worcester Blush Ivory Floral Vases With Gilt Mask Handles, 1900
A fine pair of Royal Worcester blush ivory porcelain vases dating to 1900, with finely painted floral decoration, gilt ornament and striking faun-mask handles. Their tall amphora form, warm ivory ground and refined gilding make them highly decorative pieces for a cabinet, mantelpiece or classical interior setting.
The decoration is painted with great delicacy. Sunflowers, lilies, asters and wildflowers appear in naturalistic colours with fine gilded outlines. The asymmetrical floral arrangements reflect the influence of Art Nouveau and give the pair a lively, individual character.
The gilt faun-mask handles with elongated scrolling terminals are an important feature of the design. Fluted decoration to the neck and base, together with raised gilded leaf ornament around the lower body, adds further depth and elegance. Both vases retain their original Royal Worcester factory marks, including Registration No. 28655, Pattern No. 1911 and a Worcester date code corresponding to 1900. Matching Worcester blush ivory pairs in excellent unrestored condition are increasingly difficult to source.
