"Rare Antique Minton Pair Of Figural Candlesticks, C.1820s"
Elegant early Minton pair in
pure white glaze. Each candlestick: tree-form stem with ring handle, scalloped
drip-pan and small candle cup; seated putto to a rococo base with applied
blossoms. The faces read unmistakably early Minton. Bases carry a crossed-swords-type
painted blue mark recorded on rare Minton wares of the 1820s; simple impressed
workman’s letters also noted. Minton’s tiles famously
decorate the Palace of Westminster, underscoring the firm’s top-tier Victorian
reputation.
Rare and antique Regency-period pair with sharp modelling and near-complete
floral work-an excellent addition to focused Minton and early English porcelain
collections.
Condition: very good antique
condition; only tiny nicks to a few leaves/petals on close inspection; both
candle cups sound.
Dimensions: height 19.8 cm;
base 9 × 8 cm; combined weight 751 g.
