Naval Officer's Dagger From The First Empire Of The Orient - 19th Century
Naval officer's dagger from the First Empire, non-regulation, Oriental style, 19th century. No visible hallmark, the cutlers wishing to remain anonymous due to the Emperor's prohibition of this type of weapon. A dagger influenced by the Egyptian Revival, highly prized by officers of the British Navy. The blade is very curved, flat, with a fuller along two-thirds of its length, and a single edge with a false edge at the tip. The grip is made of ebony, checkered and vertically grooved. The guard has an inverted quillon with a brass tip and a beaded beaded mounting ring. The oval brass pommel has a rivet button and a circular groove. A chain is attached to the back of the pommel and connects it to the quillon. The brass scabbard imitates the shape of a sword scabbard with two rings and asymmetrical chape. Length: 44 cm. Length SF: 42 cm. Blade length: 33 cm. Blade width at the heel: 1.9 cm. In excellent condition, showing its age and patina, see photos for details. Free shipping within France.
