Major General's Sword. First Empire. Gilt bronze hilt with burnished agate-finished raised details, decorated guard branch. Pommel decorated with serpents. Quillon decorated with a military trophy and surmounted by three stars (for the rank of Major General). Three-sided blade, 82.5 cm long, engraved on its first third with floral and military motifs, gilt engraving. Black leather scabbard with two gilt mounts, chape at the rear. Overall length 97.5 cm.
