Tunjung Dayak, Borneo, Indonesia, Ancient Totem Statue, Wolmark Collection
Large Dayak female statue, likely a revered ancestor, 97 cm high (not including the base), in good overall condition, with a beautiful dark patina and traces of adzes.
It is made of ironwood, very hard and heavy.
The first two photos were taken from a slightly different lighting angle. I love its very understated, raw, minimalist style, as they themselves said, "less is more." A very modern antique object.
Formerly in the Nina Wolmark collection, assembled in the 1980s, which included the creator of Rahan and Ulysses 31 on screen... well known to the older .
